Researching about cars didn’t feel like a task as I love learning about them and digging on the internet just curbs my enthusiasm for it,
I began the first week by implementing a combined framework between the double diamond model and the agile methodology in my milestone planner, which gave me some structure to start working upon, I finalized the brands that I’d be working on i, e. Tesla, BYD & Polestar, then right after that I started researching and familiarizing myself with the brands design systems and consumer base,
In the following week the research helped me develop a survey to extract some of the answers for the research questions, Since the demographic for Automotive UX was very specific and niche, I barely got any responses by sharing the survey on social media platforms be it Instagram car communities or reddit threads which I thought to be the best places to get some insights but since I was running on a schedule, I had to take matters into my own hands and myself to the streets of London to scour for people driving a Tesla, BYD and a Polestar, And to my surprise I was able to share it with atleast 10 – 12 EV owners (p.s. Sainsbury’s parking lots for the win) but unfortunately only 7 people ended up filling up the survey but it was still a good response since I atleast had a few responses for each brands.
Moving on to the next week, I spent my time brainstorming design layouts and exploring my options just to get a hang of it, that and some late movie nights concluded the first phase of my FMP.
